Preparing for the Sixth Form
The extended break between GCSE examinations and the start of Sixth Form provides students with an opportunity to reset and recharge before beginning their A Level courses. Given the demanding nature of the A Level curriculum, prospective WHSB Sixth Form students should prepare for the next stage of their academic journey.
Here, you will find information about a series of tasks that our experienced Heads of Academic Departments recommend students complete before starting Lower Sixth. By engaging with these tasks, students will gain insight into the courses they have chosen to study and facilitate a smoother transition from GCSE to A Level.
The preparatory work is designed to help students develop essential skills quickly, ensuring they can start their A Level studies with confidence. It is advisable for students to spread out the preparatory work relatively evenly over the summer holiday. However, it may be beneficial to complete most of the tasks after GCSE Results Day, once A Level course options have been confirmed.
