WHSB Pupils Enjoy Inspiring Evening with the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra

On Tuesday 16 June, pupils from Westcliff High School for Boys enjoyed an exceptional cultural experience during the Music Department's termly trip to London. The pupils, ranging from Year 7 to the Lower Sixth, attended a spellbinding performance by the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra at Cadogan Hall in Chelsea, one of London’s most prestigious and acoustically renowned live music venues.

The spectacular programme featured: Berlioz's lively "Hungarian March", Rachmaninov's elegiac and virtuosic "Piano Concerto No. 2" and an exciting rendition of Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition". A world-class repertoire which was thoroughly enjoyed by the students, with many citing the powerful finale of "Pictures at an Exhibition" as the absolute highlight of their evening.

WHSB's extra-curricular programme of trips inspires our pupils by providing direct access to top-tier cultural events. By taking learning outside the classroom, these initiatives promote intellectual curiosity and help to foster a lifelong appreciation for the arts from an early age. With thanks to Mr Derrick, Director of Music and departmental colleagues for organising this wonderful opportunity for the pupils.
