Westcliff Drama Triumphs Again with National School Theatre Award Win

We are delighted that Westcliff High School for Boys has continued its winning streak at the National School Theatre Awards (NSTA). Following previous award-winning musical successes, this week WHSB Drama secured another victory at the prestigious West End ceremony in London with its 2026 staging of "Godspell," the rock opera by "Wicked" composer Stephen Schwartz. The production was described by one reviewer as "a sophisticated, energetic, and deeply moving piece of theatre".

We are proud to announce that our talented actor, William (Year 11) won the Best Musical Solo award for his outstanding performance; the award is richly deserved and marks the fifth NSTA trophy for WHSB since 2024.

All our students from Years 7 to the Upper Sixth demonstrated exceptional dedication in developing their characters and narratives, while showcasing their acting and musical talent to the fullest. This external recognition, both of the production and of William’s performance, validates the high standard of the work involved, and we are immensely proud of everyone who contributed.

With our thanks to Mr Jeffreys for inspiring and guiding the pupils through their rehearsals, and to his incredible team for their support with the production.
