World Book Day was created by UNESCO in 1995 as a celebration of books and reading and, in the UK, is celebrated on the first Thursday in March.

At WHSB this year, celebrating reading for fun was the main theme and began with a whole-school Assembly featuring Musa and Yaseen (both Year 8 ), Anas (Year 11) and Nishaal (Lower Sixth). Festivities continued in the School Library, including a lunchtime quiz on famous literature and the distribution of World Book Day vouchers for pupils in the Lower School.
